Driving to Portugal
The Portuguese border is shared with Spain and major border posts are open 24hrs. Smaller posts may close earlier in winter and you may need your passport.
From the UK, the most convenient and relaxing route is via ferry to northern Spain, avoiding the need to drive through France. This is an ideal way to get to Portugal if you have pets. Brittany ferries have pet kennels for boarding cat and dogs, it is worth calling for more information.

Cars
Cars can be imported into Portugal for up to six months. Travelling from the UK, Eurotunnel operates trains 24 hours a day between Folkestone in Kent (with direct access from the M20) and Calais in France. All vehicles, from motorcycles to campers, can be accommodated.
