Silver Coast

The Silver Coast is the name given to a stretch of coastline situated on the west coast. It's exact boundaries are subject to debate, but this area roughly stretches from just south of Porto, down as far as Peniche and includes some of the best beaches in Portugal. Silver sands, crystal clear waters and a climate of up to 35˚c makes this coastline an attractive option for those wanting the stunning views of inland hills and mountains with beautiful beaches within easy access.

The summer season is from June to September, but like the adjacent region of Beiras and Central Portugal, you can enjoy fine spring weather from as early as April and May.

There are many picturesque towns and villages located a stones throw from the sea, with the only resort of any size being Figueira da Foz. With many facilities you would expect from a small coastal city, you can enjoy 5 star dining or seek out one of the smaller restaurants serving fresh fish caught the same day. The region is also becoming more popular with golf enthusiasts with it's 18-hole golf courses at Praia d'el Rey and Rio Maior and 9-hole course at  Consolação and Porto Novo.

Property prices are higher than other areas of Central Portugal because of it's costal location, but are lower than prices in the Algarve, where property is now out of reach of many buyers.
