The Algarve is probably the most well known regions of Portugal, which has enjoyed a tourism boom for many years. It was one of the most popular destinations for those looking to buy in Portugal, but with the increased house prices property in the region is now out of reach for many people.

Although the region is thought of as just a holiday destination for hot weather and sandy beaches, the region has a lot to offer. With easy access from the main airport located in the capital Faro, beautiful and historic towns are dotted along the coastline such as Albufeira, Vilamoura, Portimão, Lagos, Armação de Pêra, Quarteira, Monte Gordo and Tavira.

Moving inland away from the main tourist areas you can experience a notable difference in economy and culture. Restaurants serving quality traditional Portuguese dishes can be found at non-tourist prices and places of historical interest well worth the visit, such as the Castle of Silves, which is one of the Algarve's finest historical buildings dating back to Roman times.

The regions climate is perfect for tourism and attracts people from all over the world. Summer temperatures range from 15 - 31c but rarely drop below zero during the winter months.
